Years of planning finally come to fruition this month for Internet pay services company CCBill as it unveils its new Cascade Management System.

"We have wanted to offer cascading functionality for the past couple years, but we wanted to do it right," says Laurie Biviano, VP of education and marketing. "So we spent a fair amount of time really assessing what functionality would be most beneficial for both our clients and their affiliates. We believe we found a good balance for both important user groups."

The system - which integrates with other CCBill services and will be available to the company's clients for free - launches in early November, and Biviano notes that they will be doing demos and focus discussions at many upcoming shows. In addition, CCBill will launch online and print media campaigns throughout 2008 that spotlight different aspects of the functionality.

The system allows clients to structure their transaction processing flow with multiple payment processors and payment types in a cascading format. When transactions are declined, the system automatically cascades the transaction to the desired alternate payment type or processor. Clients are not required to flow CCBill as their primary processor on the transaction. In addition, the system can track cascading transactions in their reports area and pay out client affiliates for their portion of the client sale, even if CCBill does not process the transaction in the cascade flow.

"We think our Cascading Management System will offer our clients flexibility to manage their transaction flow to fit their business needs," Biviano says. "By not requiring that CCBill be the initial processor in the Cascade flow, clients are allowed to make important and timely on-the-fly decisions that can have a real difference in their revenue.... And if they use our affiliate system, they can still maintain the convenience of paying their CCBill.com affiliates from our system, even if we don't process the sale."

Biviano adds that the cascading functionality can improve clients' bottom line by increasing the total percentage of approved transactions and reducing the number of charge-backs. That is possible because of multiple processors, payment types, pricing options, and sign-up forms. The system also performs seamlessly with CCBill's network of more than 1.9 million affiliates. Clients can customize and manage their payment options.

"Our Beta clients have reported a noticeable increase in their sales since they began to run transactions on the system," Biviano says. "They and we are very impressed by the initial results."

She notes that clients can set up their cascade management in the CCBill System 5 Admin and create configurations from their account admin. Inside each configuration, clients define a processor, payment type, and pricing option to use for that portion of the cascade. Any number of configurations can be created in order to create a cascade flow.

Biviano provides the following example of what that flow could be: CCBill Credit as the primary processor and payment option, with Epoch Credit as a secondary option. If the CCBill Credit transaction is declined, the system can redirect the user to the client's Epoch sign-up form in order for Epoch to process the transaction. This flow can continue by using CCBill ACH, SegPay Credit, or any of the other available payment types (such as credit card, telephone billing, and EUDebit or DirectPayEU) and processors. The current system can cascade to both Epoch and SegPay, each with credit card billing available.

When using CCBill as the processor, clients can also select a subscription form type or create a custom form. Clients can use forms from other processors by providing information from their alternate processor account. Once a flow has been set up, link code can be generated inside System 5 that clients can simply paste in to their websites.

"2007 is going very well," Biviano says. "We have been in a high production cycle for the development of our new, next generation admin and affiliate systems. And the majority of our technology, product, and business resources have been surveying clients and working collaboratively to deliver a totally new combination of useful and forward-thinking global billing and affiliate system features."

Biviano also notes that next year will be just as productive. In 2008, CCBill will release its new next generation admin, Web marketing, and affiliate management system, with sneak peek demos planned for all the shows in the first quarter of the year, including Internext and the GAYVN Summit.
