What's it like being the only gay guy at the Gamma Entertainment office in Montreal?
"I can say that I'm the official Queer Eye!" says Simon Soulieres. "As an affiliate manager, I'm in charge of the sales, the marketing and all the requests from all our precious affiliates. Our wide variety, such as solo sites, gay sites, bi sites, straight sites (but filmed for the gay eyes), live shows, nude male dancer shows, solo male porn stars, Canadian studios, American Studios and European Studios - all those set us apart from the competitors."
Buddy Profits was created in August 2006 as a partnership between FCF Agency Next Door Studios and Gamma Entertainment to launch a gay affiliate program. Gamma provides the hardware, software and marketing savvy, while FCF Agency was founded in April of 2002 with an office in Canada and the United States. It has two main divisions, including an adult modeling agency with several online agencies, such as Adult Models USA and Adult Casting Call.
"We recruit and manage female and male models for straight, bi and gay work assignments in video, print and Internet media for adult entertainment," Soulieres says. "About two-thirds is gay action, and the rest is bi or straight or solo."
The other division of FCF is the popular Next Door Studios, a name well-known in gay porn circles for its quality amateur productions in both solo and hardcore action. The huge success of Next Door Studios has, in part, been helped by the fascination gay men have with watching straight men jack off, have sex with women - or even stray to men. I think more and more gay men like to watch straight guys having sex, be it straight sex, bi sex or gay-for-pay. It has to with knowing that he is really straight. It's a fantasy and challenge. I like it and find it hot myself. As a gay man I find it very challenging to try to have straight men try gay sex."
"I see more and more people becoming sexual and walking away from labels: straight, gay, bi," he continues. "I think more and more people between the ages of 18 and 28, if asked what their sexual orientation is, will answer ‘I am sexual...why have a label?'"
The company provides marketing tools, promotional advertising tools, personalized customer service and a state-of-the-art tracking system to help monitor campaigns for its affiliates. The exclusive sites provide new weekly episodes and live chat sessions in an effort to keep customers coming back, with "interaction" being a key word for both the sites' and the company's success.
The main fleet of sites is comprised of the three sites from Next Door Studios: NextDoorMale.com (which emphasizes solos), NextDoorBuddies.com (hardcore gay action) and NextDoorHookups.com (straight sex filmed for gay eyes).
"I have the chance to work for a company that is very open to the opinions and the ideas of its employees," Soulieres says. "We shoot our own content, so [CEO] Stefan from the studios always asks for my opinion, or whether there are some particular scenes that I'd like him to shoot."
Soulieres notes that they first film their models in solo scenes, then straight, then bi and then gay scenes - all filmed by a gay cameraman and filmed with an eye for the gay audience. The sites focus on the next-door guy, the attractive jock that you see at the gym.
In addition, the studio is in charge of two male porn star sites: TommyDxxx.com and CodyCummings.com. Also, StrokeThatDick.com has amateur solos and NudeMaleDancers.com provides live video from the Stock Bar in Montreal. Two more partner sites with exclusive DVD content complete the family: MaleDigital.com and BiSexDigital.com, while GayPornAccess.com provides a gateway to a huge network of sites comprising all interests.
The company is currently working on revamping its sites with a new look and design, but "the same good quality content." Soulieres also promises that more sites "with a twist" are on the way.
"Our goal was to bring the best exclusive gay content - including amateur and professional - from both North American and European studios to one location...a ‘one-stop mega site,'" Soulieres says. "I do believe we have achieved our goal, but we are not done. We have been continuously adding new sites. I believe in just a year and a half we have given - and will continue to strive to bring to our members, affiliates and webmasters - the best gay content that is out there."
