CHICAGO - Bijou Video has re-mastered and re-released on DVD two Toby Ross classics: Classmates (1986) and Mr. Wonderful (1987). Both titles feature good-hearted, hot-bodied nerds provoked to feats of greatness by their willing male companions.
Classmates stars David Ashfield as a sexy college student who is attracted to his somewhat nerdy but sexy art teacher, played by Jack Luft. The cast also includes Phil Gerard, Bill Saxton, John Miller, Jerry Carter and Rick Goulet as fellow classmates or the men with whom they have sexual encounters. During the ending fantasy sequence, the student hero drills the teacher over his desk. Upon its original release, AVN noted Classmates "scores for the gentleness of Ross's vision."
Mr. Wonderful features Tom Law as a computer operator by day, photographer of nude men by night. Among his models are Brad Richardson, Dennis Anderson, Everett Storm, Steve Phillips, Monroe Perry, James O'Brian, Tom James, Red Ryder, Dennis Reilly and Matt Houston. The film is rife with guys in underwear and jockstraps. According to AVN, "Director Ross does a great job of exploiting this Clark Kent-ish fantasy material. What could be sexier than seeing a nerd-at-first-sight unexpectedly transformed into the hunk dreams are made of?"
