SOUTH PARIS, Maine - Outdoors, the fifth BerlinStarFilm title to be released by All Boys Distribution this year, is ready to hit the streets, All Boys president Rob Ragan said Tuesday.
"We've been getting a lot of requests for this title for months now, as it's been available in Europe for a while," Ragan said. "BerlinStarFilm, however, edits their films for the North American market, so sometimes we have to wait for that to happen before we can release a new title. I'm happy to say it's ready to go, and we'll be able to get [the DVDs] rolling out before the holiday break."
All Boys vice president of operations Craig Rivas added, "We've seen incredible response on the BSF titles, and this one is really going to put a strong exclamation point on their line for the year's end."
Ragan said Outdoors is one of the first new titles that will be available directly to retailers through All Boys, which previously sold only to other distributors. In November, the company changed its policy in order to reach more retail outlets that otherwise had no access to All Boys releases. Much of what All Boys handles is European.
"For too long store buyers have not been given good education as to what is selling in the gay market, so they just buy what they've always bought," Ragan said. "In some cases, sales reps don't know the gay production companies that well. I employ people who make sure whatever we put out is going to appeal to the masses, not just the few."
Ragan said All Boys' last release for 2008 will be OTB Video's Cumparty 9, which is due later this month. The line has been popular, he noted.
"I haven't been able to keep these damn things in stock since I took over the line last year," he said.
