Andy Zeffer, who "dabbled" in the gay XXX industry as performer Andy Zee, has written a Hollywood novel, Going Down in La-La Land, published by Haworth Press.
La-La is described by Haworth Press as "the story of a young, ambitious, and gay actor who arrives in Hollywood from New York with the looks and talent to become a star, but who soon finds himself lost in a seamy (and steamy) underworld of gay porn and male prostitution, dealing with down-and-out directors, washed-up starlets, crystal meth addicts, and the prettyboy Hollywood 'A' list."
Zeffer says he wrote the novel first as "an emotional purge. I spent three years living in Los Angeles, which were less than productive. After leaving town I didn't have much to my name but some really bizarre experiences. So I began to write them down." At first, he says, his recollections were painful, "but as they gradually transformed into a fictional novel, the writing process became a lot of fun."
Zeffer, now the Features Editor of Fort Lauderdale's Express News — and working on a second novel — appeared as Andy Zee in 1999's Billy Herrington's Body Shop for All Worlds and in Pizza Boy 3 for Catalina. He also had a role in Wash West's art house movie, The Fluffer.
Going Down in La-La Land is currently available from such online retailers as amazon.com and will hit bookstore shelves on May 1.
