SAN DIEGO, Calif.—Four months after the website closed its doors, decade-old AmateurStraightGuys.com reopened in late April under new co-ownership. The beta-test of the new site went well, according to founder Doug De Long.
“In the course of the last two to three weeks, I have been overwhelmed with messages of support from former members and fans of ASG who have expressed to me how much they missed the site and how happy they are about the news of our return,” he said.
De Long now co-owns the site’s holding company, Double D Holdings LLC, with a well-known digital gay adult industry player: Dink Flamingo. Noted for his straight-guy military videos and the website ActiveDuty.com, Flamingo bought out the interests of former co-owner Jay Huffhines about a month ago, De Long said.
“I am as excited as you are about the rebirth of Amateur Straight Guys,” Flamingo wrote in a recent blog post. “It is a brand I have come to love and respect over the years, and I am very proud to now be a part of it.”
Although the company’s new headquarters will be in San Diego, where Active Duty also is headquartered, De Long will remain in the site’s former location in Tempe, Ariz., and will serve as the principle content director for the first few months.
“I am pumped to be back and producing and directing again, but long-term we will be looking for new hosts for the site and really want to pick unknowns who have a similar passion for getting a straight guy to do not-so-straight things,” De Long said.
The new ASG incorporates the content from the original site in a new environment. A redesign and the integration of a new content-management system have updated the members area’s look, feel and functionality.
Active weekly production will begin as the site celebrates its 10th anniversary on May 10, De Long said.
“We wanted to officially open on a very significant milestone date and have double the reason to celebrate not only the website’s return, but also a decade of hot content,” Flamingo added.
Members who sign up before May 23 will receive free access to Flamingo’s other websites, plus other perks that include a coupon good for 60 free movies on AEBN and an “all the time” member discount of $10 in ASG’s DVD store.
“We are so confident this is the right formula, the right time and the right pairing that we’re prepared to label this new era ‘ASG’s Golden Age,’” said De Long.
