AMG to Release Classic Wrestling Comps

SAN FRANCISCO - Athletic Model Guild has pre-released Wrestling Live 23 and Wrestling Live 25 two digitally re-mastered compilation DVDs containing 51 models in 33 nude wrestling matches lensed by AMG founder Bob Mizer.

Each match features two classic AMG models, many of whom sport the mustaches and shaggy hair popular in the 1980s. The collections reintroduce such physique stars as TJ Swan, Brian Diaz, David Televito, Jerry Suter, Ernie Banks, Tory Bell, Kris Todd, Stavlos Aekomas and dozens more. From off camera, Mizer's voice can be heard directing and cheering on the boys.

Mizer's studio began to achieve notice with the publication of the periodical Physique Pictorial, which gave artists like Tom of Finland and George Quaintance a vehicle for their homoerotic work. The studio subsisted on the publication of Physique Pictorial and the sale of prints and slides featured in its pages for much of Mizer's career. The studio also produced film reels ranging from models simply flexing and posing for the camera to hardcore shorts, which Mizer never admitted to having produced.

The advent of video and the changing attitudes toward pornography in the 1980s greatly influenced Mizer's later work. David Hurles of Old Reliable claims to have introduced him to the video camera, noting that he took to video quite quickly after decades of working with film. From 1980 until his death in 1992, Mizer's work consisted mainly of "session videos," which included wrestling videos alongside the ass-centric Anal Erotic video series and the phallus-worshiping Best Size series.

"Bob Mizer photographed thousands of men over the 50-odd years that he was active," said Dennis Bell, the current president of AMG. "Many of his most popular models came back again and again and appear in photographs sometimes over decades. Both of these new wrestling videos feature some of the most sought-after AMG men at their peak, in a raw, aggressive atmosphere."

Wrestling Live 23 and Wrestling Live 25 are available for pre-order at AMG's Web store.
