SAN FRANCISCO - Athletic Model Guild has released what it calls "the world's first documentary style porn feature," Rio, under the studio's AMG Brasil label.
The film, the latest from the studio's line of hardcore Brazilian porn, mixes explicit action with real-life interviews. In their candid sit-downs with AMG owner Dennis Bell, each of the nine models talks about what it's like to work in the Brazilian sex trade and their personal sexual preferences.
Bell said Rio gives viewers the chance to get to know the models more intimately.
"These interviews are no bullshit," he said. "No one was prompted, and we asked each of the guys to answer their questions honestly. The result is really spectacular. You get a sense for who these guys are, and opposed to ruining the fantasy, it enhances their appeal."
In his interview, first-timer Aleff Pavanello, who identifies as gay, talks about how his love of porn led him to work on Rio.
"I always watch porn movies," he said. "Like a fan of porno. Not just gay porn, but straight porn too ... and this stimulated me to go to the other side of the screen."
Some models indicated their first gay experiences weren't all that exciting. Alex Frias has worked in porn for a few years and made his AMG Brasil debut in this summer's poolside orgy flick, Suruba: Azul. The bisexual performer said his first sex with a man was "just another job."
"My first time was in a sauna," he said. "I was working, a customer showed up, so I went to the bedroom and I worked."
In Rio, Frias - who said his favorite part of a man is the ass - tops Carnaval coverboy Rick Garcia in a water-soaked fantasy sequence. Garcia said outside of porn, he's completely straight. He explained the dichotomy that separates his work life from his personal life.
"Outside of these [escort work and porn films], I am a man," he said. "I just have relationships with girls. Yes, I could let a man fuck me. I am professional, this is what I do. If I start with this life, I need to go with everything that happens."
To accompany the release of the film, AMG created a series of downloadable podcasts that comprise nine teasers for Rio. Each podcast contains a portion of one model's interview along with a clip of his sex scene in the movie. The podcasts are available at the iTunes store and at the Libsyn website.
Bell said Rodolfo Guerra's teaser currently tops the list of downloads at Libsyn, possibly because of the performer's over-the-top attitude.
"Dude, I really admire legs and ass," Guerra said. "I think this is essential. It means nothing to see a kind of guy, very strong and muscular, with skinny legs and ugly ass. What is beautiful is a man with a great ass. I believe that the Brazilians, specifically the Cariocas of Rio, are natural sex addicts, so I like girls a lot, I like guys a lot, I like sex and orgies a lot, and I like to have a lot of color in my life."
A release party is scheduled to begin at 10 p.m. Nov. 21 at Bench and Bar in Oakland.
