Author Dave Thompson investigates the history of the adult film from the first "hardcore erotic" film A Les Culs D'Or in 1908 France to the stag films of the 1950-1960s all the way up through Deep Throat. Thompson's tome is well researched and documented. While there are only a few pictures (of filmstrips from various stag movies), there are many very interesting tidbits about early erotic cinema, including the meaning of the "black sock" motif and the popularity of the Tijuana Bible cartoon booklets. A must for any porn-history enthusiast.
