Peter Warren

Biography

Peter Warren started as a freelance reviewer for AVN under the pseudonym Wetscrog Rex, an old nickname he used in the porn club he co-founded during his undergraduate college days at the University of North Carolina - Chapel Hill. While at UNC, he wrote for the school paper, The Daily Tar Heel, and began his own underground publication, The Occasional Troglodyte.

He went on to spend a year studying screenwriting in the graduate program at the University of Miami, and just after 9/11, he made the move to L.A., where he reconnected with a college acquaintance who gave him a shot at writing movie reviews and features for alternative weekly Entertainment Today. This led to freelancing gigs for other outlets, including Campus Circle, FilmStew.com and, eventually, AVN.

In October 2003, six months after beginning his freelancing stint, he was offered a full-time position as an Associate Editor at AVN, and has held that post ever since. "Scrog," as some call him, has also done a little moviemaking of his own on the side, creating a documentary about his extended relatives and their family trip to Alaska called Jews at Sea, which later picked up adult star Kimberly Kane as a co-producer and debuted to the world at the 2008 Backseat Film Festival in Philadelphia — the birthplace, it so happens, of AVN. Pete has begun work on a second documentary, as well — tentatively titled The Devil in Miss Pike — about his former AVN co-worker Heidi Joy Pike.

A life-long movie lover, Pete lists Annie Hall, The Graduate, Boogie Nights, Duck Soup and Night of the Living Dead among his favorite films of all time. Of course, he has also held a fondness for movies of the adult persuasion from a decidedly tender age, and is widely known to especially favor the girl/girl variety. The very first X-rated motion picture he ever saw was Candy Stripers, and some of his favorites since have included: Justine: Nothing to Hide 2, Pornological 5, Reel People, Just Another Pretty Face, Bimbo Bowlers From Buffalo, Pretty Girl, Blondage, Sorority Sex Kittens, Sister Snatch, Things Change: My First Time, Bedlam, Every Woman Has a Fantasy 3, Temptation of Serenity, No Man's Land 30, I Love Lesbians 8, Lethal Affairs, Girlvert 11, Naked & Famous, Stuntgirl, Blacklight Beauty, Girls Love Girls, Valentina and Joanna's Angels 2: Alt Throttle.
