Interactive Body Parts is already selling briskly around the United States, says Vivid Interactive, and that's an excellent foundation from which to launch the game at a big Virgin Megastore event May 11 - in Times Square, with Vivid Girl Kira Kener to sign copies of the game.
Vivid spokesman Brian Gross wouldn't speculate on how notorious porn hounding Mayor Rudolph Giuliani might react, though the event won't be spilling out onto the sidewalk.
"We're really looking forward to this," he said of the Times Square event. "The response to the DVD game has been tremendous. Write-ups in Variety, Billboard, and other press. People are responding, they're buying it at Tower Records and Virgin Megastores all across the country."
The promotion will also introduce Interactive Mind Teazzer, a prize-winning series by Dyanna Lauren which won Best Interactive DVD at the AVN Awards in January.
"Both DVDs in the series allow the player to participate in a digitally decadent game of mix-and-match, where floating body parts can be arranged by using the DVD remote control to create the 'ideal girl,'" Gross said. "After completion, the player is rewarded with a special fantasy segment."
Kener will sign copies of the DVDs, as well as pose for pictures. The event begins at 4 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. Those joining in can also take a crack at trying the DVD games, with winners getting a free copy of Interactive Mind Teazzer and a chance to win a luxury trip to the Bahamas, Vivid said.
Vivid Interactive says Interactive Body Parts sold its entire first run of five thousand copies on its first day's availability, and has since sold over twelve thousand units of the game.
