Like Mr. Paulin, Orson Welles got his start starring in a movie he wrote, produced and directed. So did Ed Wood. Guess which filmmaker Mr. Paulin resembles?

Sometimes imitation can be flattering. Slavish imitation like this usually indicates a high probability of the filmmaker borrowing budget money from parents. At Dawn lifts riffs from all the notorious gore films - especially those by Romero, Carpenter and Herschell Gordon Lewis - but fails to capture even a smidgeon of the edge, wit and bite of better genre flicks. Try to imagine the thespic ticks of William Shatner applied not only to acting but production values as well.

Even Beavis and Butthead would find this extended home video to be unsophisticated. (Let's not forget the wall-to-wall soundtrack by local garage metal-bands with names like Usurper.)
