With Love's Passion, VCA has taken the next step in adult DVD, releasing one of the first-ever hardcore DVD-9s (single-side, dual-layered) to the market. Lavishly produced and boasting an all-star cast, this shot-on-film feature is one of director Veronica Hart's finest, with some terrific sex, generally good performances (the period dialogue seems to be a bit of a mouthful for some of the cast), and near-mainstream quality production values.

The extra storage capacity afforded by dual-layering results in extraordinarily high-quality picture and sound, with plenty of room for extras like dual-angles (2nd angle shot on video), on-the-fly switching between the film soundtrack and commentary by Hart and star Juli Ashton, full-motion menus, and a musical slide show of production stills. Like all VCA DVDs, Love's Passion is all-region compatible and unencrypted.

No, there's nothing revolutionary about any of these particular extras, but most everything on the disc looks and sounds terrific — which is what the format is all about in the first place. One disappointment: Cast "bios" are actually single shots of the actors, with a brief list of their current/most popular VCA credits.
