It's not the sex scenes that stop this erotic blockbuster from a higher rating: it's the really awful linking material that gets you from one set of gyrating bodies to the next. The ostensible plot concerns a group of women telling their best sexual experiences, beginning with Jesie as a body-painter's canvas, which of course leads to her getting it on with him, as we watch her passionate sweat remove his carefully painted tattoos.

Joanna Storm's lunchtime rendezvous in Central park's bushes, while another woman reads an erotic book nearby, only whets our appetite for a seashore romp with Tiffany Clark (whose body looks so lovely in some places that one almost suspects a double was used) and a relaxing surfer … all happening under hypnosis. Of course she gets it on with the hypnotist!) To attempt to describe the couplings of Mai Lin, once with a fellow office worker and once with Joanna, plus what Vanessa Del Rio does at the party, would be too much for some readers. Suffice to say that not only are the sex scenes all very well done, but the background music adds beauty while being unobtrusive, and supporting actresses are used to increase the eroticism (One lovely lady eats an orange while Joanna and Mai get it on in the bushes).

Silk, Satin, Sex: definitely a film that gets the juices flowing.
