This is an apt title for a movie that’s cerebral stuff for foreign film buffs.  Besides being food for thought, Heat of Desire depicts intense eroticism, as well. And that’s an enticing combination.

The deceptively simple story begins in Paris with beautiful Clio Goldsmith playing a politician’s mistress, angry with him for not paying enough attention to her.  In a fit of rage, she vows to run off with the next man who catches her eye, a mild-mannered bespectacled professor played by the late Patrick Deware.  To complicate matters even further, he’s off to Barcelona for a lecture at the university and Clio decides to seduce him o a train en route to sunny Spain.  When he finally checks into his hotel room, Deware claims that Clio’s his wife, and their affair really starts heating up.  The passionate couple rarely leave their room in an obsessive relationship which proves that too much of a good thing can be ultimately destructive for both parties.

Luckily, the two stars are up to their challenging roles.  Clio Goldsmith, a captivating screen presence, does wonders with a glance or wink from those sparkling green eyes. But, what will really knock you out is her full, voluptuous figure.  The surprisingly graphic love scene between Goldsmith and Deware exhibit a great deal of raw sexual passion.  They’re the sort of scenes that only foreign film stars seem willing to perform.

Heat of Desire is an intense drama that really holds your attention.  If you’re willing to be seduced by this disconcerting tale, then you’re in for a perplexing and hopefully artistically rewarding video experience.
