Flubbed lines, bad acting, unattractive femmes and boring sex highlight Blue Dream Lover, another of the "two-day wonders" that bring the shot-on-video genre down. Who wouldn't be tired of the same old sex tape, where the performers look like they're working, rather than having fun.
Misty Regan, a sexually frustrated woman, can only achieve orgasms at night while asleep. The story centers around her flashbacks, as she discusses her problem with an amiable psychiatrist. That's the plot – old, tired and stale.
If the sex weren't so standard and tame, Blue Dream Lover might have achieved some sort of merit. But even a shower scene between Regan and Nick Niter, which begins erotically, ends up as a standard, dull bed scene. Misty even looks off camera for the director's assistance during anther sleeping pill of a sex scene, and they didn't care enough to edit it out. It's shabby and cheap and exceedingly unprofessional.
Some of the video companies believe that you can shoot the video on Monday, edit it Tuesday, box in Wednesday and release it before the weekend. In this case, it shows. Now I really have no idea how long it took them to make Blue Dream Lover, but it certainly wasn't long enough.
