As far as shot-on-video features go, The Layout is better than some, but not quite as good as others. The good-looking cast, strong female characters and some hot sex will appeal to the couples’ market, but shoddy acting and production flaws detract from the feature’s overall appeal.
Katie Thomas, Stacey Donovan and Trinity Barnes play three women who get fired from their jobs after nude photos they posed for privately appear in a national men’s magazine. They do what they can to pay their debts (which means sex) and plot revenge against photographer Randy West.
The irony occurs when the gals enlist another photog (Tom Byron) to assist in their blackmail. And it’s a good thing he comes along, as his scene with sexy Donovan saves the feature’s sex rating. The fact that they look like the kids next door adds to the eroticism created in their very straight, plain lovemaking. No gimmicks or weird angles – just good, clean raunch. The following feature-ending four-way is just as erotic, mainly this time because of the rough antics of Thomas and Wets. These two literally “bang.”
It’s too bad weak acting and some duplicate footage during the last sex scene cloud The Layout's overall effectiveness. Still, there is enough good sex to earn a better-than-average recommendation.
