Veteran director Henri Pachard has been making excellent adult films and videos since the 1960's and has given us such greats as Devil In Miss Jones II and Babylon Pink. Like most of Pachard's material, Grind has a fairly strong story line. Mike Horner plays a sexually frustrated husband who is disappointed in the straight-laced attitude his wife (Shanna McCullough) has toward sex. On their anniversary, Horner takes her to a live sex show thinking it will loosen her Puritan attitudes. Instead, she kicks him out of the house.
The acting in Grind is top-notch all the way and McCullough comes through in magnificent fashion. The sets are realistic and the music complements the mood well. The tape is loaded with excellent transition scenes and fantasy sequences which carry the plot logically forward. (Watch closely for a cameo appearance in which Pachard plays a plumber.) The colors are good, the sound is crisp and the editing is tight. The major drawback of Grind is the lack of intensity during the sex scenes. The close-ups do not come often enough and the eroticism never seems to get above average level.
Yet, Grind is well worth a look by those who are tired of non-stop sex and seek more substance in their sexvids. Good for couples!
