Either give Imperial Entertainment alot of credit, or credit for good luck whichever the case may be. This year the company has produced three solid entries for AVN's Best Alternative Adult Feature Award, namely, Bikini Carwash Company, Night Rhythms (also reviewed this month), and now, The Other Woman.

The Other Woman is genuine sultry stuff with Lee Anne Beaman playing a sexually uptight newswoman who's trying to get the goods on a powerful businessman (Sam Jones) for his "sadism and peccadilloes". Beaman in her investigations bumps heads with the collective good 'ole boy network, and, in the process, learns some very interesting things about herself both personally and sexually as she turns into a regular little voyeur.

Seaman's husband (Adrian Zmed) is an author of ten books. The fact that he looks and sounds like a guy who's never READ ten books much less written them, doesn't enter the picture as Beaman discovers certain provocative pictures of an adult magazine model among his dry cleaning. This accelerates Beaman's journey into depravity as she eventually takes on the model as a lesbian lover and is photographed, surreptitiously, having a wild sex fling in a shower (probably the year's best sex scene) with another man. Beaman has one helluva bod, and as soon as her character starts loosening up and shucking her clothes, she's a joy to behold.

The Other Woman may be the best adult-themed motion picture out this year. It doesn't miss a beat once the sex starts rolling and something seems to be happening just about every minute. I was absolutely astounded to see so much skin in a mainstream flick, and yet the sex (two great lesbian scenes) is rendered so tastefully appealing, I'd find it very difficult to go back to porn, quite frankly, seeing how well sex was interpreted here. Forsaking the standard porn mentality, this is the way an adult film can and should look. I'd hope that future pictures would follow suit.

The Other Woman gets my vote as the year's best example of erotic entertainment, so far. Watch for Deidre Holland in a cameo "nude" role.
