White Mischief, based on a true story, looks at lust, scandal and murder among the British aristocracy in Kenya during World War II.
The fetching Greta Scacchi plays a woman married to elderly British businessman Joss Ackland. New to Nairobi, Scacchi soon hears stories about the sexual prowess of soldier Charles Dance from her lady friends. After a few attempts to bed her down, Dance finally seduces Sccachi while on vacation at the seashore. However, their romantic involvement sets off sparks of jealousy with Ackland. Eventually, Dance is mysteriously murdered and a much publicized trial follows.
White Mischief is lushly photographed and lovingly detailed, filled with swanky dance halls, polo games and chic cocktail parties. These richly detailed elements are interesting to look at, but they don’t help the potential heat of this storyline.
