Is this a treasure....

Now that the Betty Page cult has blossomed, it's rare indeed to find any sort of collectible featuring her (be it a glossy, slide, pin-up calendar, glamour loop etc.) that hasn't been exploited to death a thousand times over. But now comes a unique burlesque film from the Fabulous Fifties that spotlights America's Number One Pin-up Girl as never before.

You'll find a number of these types of films on video, but Something Weird is the only company that has this particular title. Don't confuse this with another Teaserama title that's a black and white burlesque feature.

This one's unique for a number of reasons. It's full-color, as I mentioned. It features the famous vaudeville comic Joe E. Ross who was a featured player on such TV comedy hits as The Phil Silvers Show (aka You'll Never Get Rich, aka Sergeant Bilko) and Car 54 Where Are You? It offers Tempest Storm in several exotic routines. It includes a female impersonator, Trudy Wayne (hot stuff back then), and it has Betty. She serves as the vaudeville card girl for each act and does a bit of a hoochie-coochie dance in the opening sequence. All of this is very innocent of course, in retrospect, but it was torrid material at one time.

The promos described this show as a "daring riot of color, music and laughs". I don't know if you're going to laugh yourself silly at the jokes or go into cardiac arrest from watching the girls, but if you're a collector, you'll be real smart and get this tape.

P.S. to store owners: Something Weird titles are renting and selling like hotcakes. Do yourself a favor and give them a call.
