Don’t expect A Tiger’s Tale to shed any new light on the rather interesting subject of younger men with older women. It doesn’t want to. But this quirky, little movie takes the younger man-older woman concept and turns it into nifty comedy, filled with some funny and sexy moments.

Set in the Southwest, A Tiger’s Tale stars C. Thomas Howell as a 19-year-old eccentric who has a tiger for a pet and a girlfriend (Kelly Preston) some may call a “piece of work.” When Howell breaks his ties with the girl, he falls for her feisty mother, played by voluptuous redhead Ann-Margret. Their relationship, a series of love-making, break ups and arguments with Preston, takes an interesting turn when Ann-Margret accidentally becomes pregnant.

Though relatively laid back, the movie has some surprisingly sexually heated moments. Ann-Margret and Howell’s bedroom scenes are romantic and alluring, and while the actress may not have done her own nudity (we’re not sure), the figure fits the bill nicely. Preston, whom you may recall as Roy Scheider’s teenage lover in 52 Pick-Ups is one of the hottest- and least shy – young actresses working in movies today.

A Tiger’s Tale is not great, but it is different. You’re not going to growl, but you may purr.
