After teasing us nominally in the likes of The Adventures of Tennessee Buck, Bedroom Eyes II and Frankenstein General Hospital, beautiful Kathy Shower lets it all hang out (literally) this time in a film about an engaging little love affair caught in the swirl of Hollywood politics.

The film lights up from the first seconds when Shower displays her luscious, wet nakedness coming out of a shower and teases us throughout via sulty saxophone music and sexy body pans with plenty of skin. Director Jag Mundhra, who did last year's scorcher, The Other Woman, certainly has a knack for exploring the beauty and sensuality of his leading ladies, and he has an excellent subject in this former Playboy model.

Shower's very convincing in her role as a body double who's working on an erotic western, but aspires to something a little better in the Hollywood food chain. When the production is threatened by the antics of its drunken leading lady, Shower has a chance meeting with studio head David Heavener. Heavener goes into a swoon over her, and allows her the opportunity to develop a script she's been working on to the consternation of his bean counter Joe Estevez and director Jeff Conaway.

Lack of communication threatens the Shower-Heavener relationship, but all's well that ends well, as you'd expect. The storyline's a little punchdrunk with loads of hearts and flowers, lovey-dovey screen clichés (the kind of paperback romance stuff that's lampooned uproariously in Naked Gun 2 1/2) but it's enjoyable, non-toxic fare.

Erotic, sexy and less antic than most boudoir soapers, L.A. Goddess is especially recommended for members of the female audience who may be put off by the ice pick-and-gore element of the erotic genre.
