With the release of A Rising Star, "erotic hijinks on an adult movie set" now replaces "mad scientist/doctor creates the ultimate aphrodisiac" for fifth place on the All-Time Adult Film Overused Plot List.  That, unfortunately, is just about the only noteworthy thing about this uninvolving sexvid.

The major problem with the feature, aside from the lack of originality, is that, in attempting to show cameramen moving to catch the action of a scene, most of the sex scenes lose their momentum.  An off-the-set session with actress Jamie Leigh and biker Tony Montana gets some points, as does Leigh's later session with Tommy Junior.  Ironically, director Diamond says to stars Ashlyn Gere and Tom Byron late in the picture, "I need at least one good scene out of this thing to save this piece of shit."  Thanks to Gere and Byron's hot couch coupling, that's just what he gets.  Does it save A Rising Star, however?  Just barely.
