The screening copy of Cocktail Party didn't feature cast of crew, but that is just a minor thing lacking from this fine German import. It's about two couples and their determination to initiate new members into their private swingers club.

I'll call couple number one Tom and Laura, because they have a passing resemblance to Tom Byron and Laura (Blue Velvet) Dern. They're young, hip, and voyeuristic. Both of them screw like bunnies while watching porn tapes, but they really long for a group go-around.

That's where Doc and Blondie come in. (I'm making up these names, remember). Doc is a sex therapist. Early forties, hairy chested, easygoing type. His wife is a well shaped blonde who loves to hear about his work at the office, which mainly consists of "curing" frigid females. Doc also recruits new swingers.

The main delight of seeing this tape is for the new faces, which are refreshing and unpretentious. The American adult film industry starts to look like the snake that swallowed its tail to many porn reviewers as the same sex stars cycle from picture to picture. Cocktail Party is a welcome relief; what's more it's actually very hot in places. Like the popular beers from the Fatherland, it's rich and full bodied.
