Tropical Heat is my nomination for the out-in-left field plot of the year.

Rick (Roxanne) Rossovich plays a grizzled P.I. (are there any other types?) hired by an insurance company to investigate the accident claim of the widow of a maharajah who's been trampled by an elephant. Rossovich falls for the widow (Maryam D'Abo) like a ton of peanuts and soon learns there may be more afoot than meets the tusk.

Given the whole premise of this elephant-thing and the absurdity it presents, even straight lines take on a different level in this flick, especially when an investigating Hindu doctor intones: "being trampled by an elephant is certainly adding insult to injury".

The film comes both in an R and Unrated version, and while we only got to see the "R", only imagination can suggest what was sliced out. Lovers of pulchritude will feast on Lee Anne (The Other Woman) Beaman's nude pool romp with Rossovich early on, and the comely Miss D'Abo shucks her duds a number of times to get it on with Rick. Hot stuff.
