If memory serves back to the days of the venerable Buster Crabbe serial Flash Gordon Conquerors of the Universe, you can vastly appreciate some of the in-schtick of the Flesh Gordon sequel, Flesh Gordon Meets The Cosmic Cheerleaders. The plots are pretty similar. In Conquerors of the Universe, Ming The Merciless bombards the earth with The Purple Death. In Flesh Gordon 2, The Evil Presence along with his Irwin Cory-like stooge Master Bator is bent on destroying the earth with an impotence radiation ray. Unfortunately, for Flesh Gordon 2, Ming's a better and more distinctive villain to side with. The Evil Presence reminds you of too many of a number of generic hooded menaces that populated the old time serials.

Vastly improved in some respects to the original Jason Williams' Flesh Gordon classic, Cosmic Cheerleaders is rife with full-assault double entendres and John Waters' weirdness. The film has an improved technological cheesiness over the original Flesh Gordon that makes it fun to watch, but more obnoxious to wade through simply because some of the visual humor doesn't know when to quit and get out of the asteroid belt— I suppose, because of the overhead creating the effect in the first place.

There's a funny segment where Flesh and Dr. Jerkoff encounter a black hole. A little Lady Paree humor, there. And there's another inkling of cleverness when Flesh, bent over, gets attacked by a Chi ChiLaRue-like penis monster. Later on, Flesh encounters a trio of turd people who do a funny California Raisins takeoff. There is some funny stuff, but the turd humor sticks around to where it becomes a turd.

World Champ kickboxer Vince Murdocco plays Flesh in a way I've enjoyed Ted McGinley's cocky California surfer elude humor. (They physically resemble one another, too.) Murdocco/Flesh gets kidnapped by band of horny cosmic bimbos headed by Robunda Hooters (Playboy playmate Morgan Fox) and taken to a planet that looks like the locker room in a Porky's movie. The bims want Flesh for obvious reasons. But aside from this scene where we get some choice female anatomy, Flesh Gordon 2 is on the low thresh-hold of flesh, and we saw the unrated version.

Famous stripper Melissa Mounds shows up for a (few seconds) topless cameo in a funny segment wherein Flesh and Jerkoff find themselves in a cafe catering to baby fetishes, but what this film needs is more of the good old earthly tits and ass.
