Reviews

Joey Silvera is a fading movie star who can’t even get a guest shot on Tic Tac Dough. He’s in the hospital for “prostate surgery” and winds up very attracted to his nightshift nurse (Jennifer Stewart) who sees him only as “a hairless primate with a prostate problem”.

Plot complication #1: Joey’s on the skids and is about to lose  his house.

Plot complication #2: He makes mention to Stewart that women are dying to have his baby (and he can’t get on Tic Tac Dough?) Stewart suggests (jokingly) he sell his sperm like some folk sell their blood to take care of his financial problems.

Plot comment #2A: Isn’t this vaguely similar to the plot in the best seller Stolen Blessings? Yeah but this is almost as goofy as Joey works on a business scheme to mail order his juice. Think about it. That’s pretty funny.

Plot complication #3: Joey’s having a problem working out a solution because he needs just the right girl to get him excited. So you can figure out where Stewart enters the picture.

Designer Genes is an absolutely delightful farce, light, breezy, sexy and chock full of some wonderful cheesecake (and believe me, it makes the sex work so much better). Stewart is a genuine killer. If you’re into the nurse uniform-thing, she delivers the starch.

Plot complication #4: The boxcover credits are a genuine mess.
