Wow. A cop movie that begins with a shootout in a convenience store. Now there's something really different.

Obsessed with guilt—probably because he participated in the opening scene of a cop movie that has a shootout in a convenience store—police Det. Nick Carter (Robert Eastwick) has these interminable flashbacks relating to the event.

During his moments of angst (he kills one of the perps), Eastwick strikes a lot of clenched jaw poses. His eyebrows knot up like furry equatorial spiders on the attack, allowing him to screw his face into a madcap composite of director Oliver Stone in a gene-splicing experiment with XXX star T.T. Boy's jaw line. Evidently, Eastwick's girlfriends, past and present, find these mannerisms utterly charming, too. His scrotal sac seems to be the enviable center of attention throughout the film as Eastwick comes to terms with himself.

Sure, there's something of an ancillary plot about a scumbag rapist named Carl, but who cares? Whenever the storyline lags—which is about every three minutes— the exploitationer's best friend, the naked tit, rears its friendly pink eye. As if that's not enough, there's also one gratuitous cheesecake shoot after another taking place (Eastwick's girlfriend is a photographer).

Though Strike a Pose can't seem to make up its mind whether to be an erotic thriller or the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, in the long run, it really doesn't matter. Just remember...every three minutes. Set your watch to it.

Also stars Michele Lamothe, Margie Peterson and Michelle Garrin.
