Confessing to one of life's guiltier pleasures, I admit a lurid affection for Academy Entertainment's "Witchcraft" series. These films operate on a simple, tried-and-true principle of combining beauty, seduction and sensuality with the unearthly. Witchcraft V, thanks to the presence of blonde babes like Carolyn Taye-Loren and Nicole Sassaman, is, possibly, the best and the sexiest offering yet.

A hooker named Marta (Nicole Sassaman) flees the scene of a crime involving a john, and by the sheerest of coincidences, stumbles across the devilish Cain. No, not the kung-fu Cain, but David Huffman, who, as the devil's emissary, is out to raise a little hell. In his effort to pave the way for the powers of darkness, Huffman offers up the hammiest screen villain this side of Jay Robinson's Caligula in Demetrius and the Gladiators.

Sassaman becomes Cain's instrument of lust (some choice nude love scenes), and, with her body, entraps good guy Will Spanner played by Marklen Kennedy. Will's girlfriend, Taye-Loren (let's see a film where the devil claims all the Hollywood actors and actresses with hyphenated middle names) in something of a contradiction of terms, plays a voluptuous holy roller and is drawn inadvertently into the netherworld's ever-popular battle-for-bodies.

As a bonus, Taye-Loren, who reminds you of a young Susan Anton, delivers a scorching shower room love scene with Marklen, but the issue with Cain is left open-ended enough for yet another sequel.

A good show with a touch of very dry humor makes Witchcraft V entertaining as all hell.
