Reviews

Birdy is Tsutomu, and Tsutomu is Birdy. Confused?  You should be.  Birdy is a lithe, young girl who's also a maverick Space Federation Officer from the opposite end of the galaxy from Tsutomu.  She fights evil aliens from Earth wherever they may be, and uses not sex but a devastating energy blast as a weapon.  She accidentally kills Tsutomu, an unassuming Japanese student, during one of her confrontations, and now they must share the same body as they work together to track down a deadly serum that can mutate humans into psychic soldiers.  Even more confused?  Forget the plot.  The most confusing aspect of this tape is why it's being marketed as softcore adult material.  There's no sex, none, nada, and the nudity is restricted to two very brief scenes of a naked Birdy running down an alley.  The real reason for the warning may be Tsutomu's frequent transformations from mild-mannered schoolboy to blond, buff supervixen, often in front of his shocked parents.  Going from Most Dutiful Computer Geek to Jenna Jameson may blow the minds of the conservative Japanese, but over there that's pretty tame stuff.  However, the animation is mind-boggling, and the story, as confusing as it is, never flags.
