Take The Real World, cross it with Melrose Place, add a touch of Tales of the City and you have West Hollywood Stories. This modern-day soap opera that takes place in the gay-populous city of West Hollywood is both campy and fun. Centering primarily around a group of characters who inhabit an apartment complex, main characters include a gay doctor, his ex-alcoholic boyfriend, a rich kid thrown out of the house by his religious father for being gay, an alcoholic actress on the brink of discovery, her best friend (another actor, gay, with a sordid hetero porn past), a campy television actor, a snobby socialite, her self-absorbed lawyer brother, and (to top it all off) a pot-smoking stoner and a nude male maid. Well here's a wealth of stories just itching to be told.
This tape features only the first two installments of the series, with more to come. The antics range from funny to sad to surprising, as characters' lives intertwine and storylines converge.
The acting is mostly campy and over-the-top, but what drama queens aren't? Consumers looking to take a break from porn will find these stories appealing.
