Synopsis

Award-winning director Brad Armstrong gives us a taste of what happens when erotic drama and reality collide. Asa Akira and Jessica Drake are incredible in this art imitating life exploration. Zoe (Jessica Drake) is a journalist assigned to do a story on Asa Akira, a world-famous porn star who's just written a book that's getting lots of mainstream interest. Zoe is understandably nervous about what the next few days have in store for her, but before long she has Asa revealing her deepest, darkest secrets for all the world to see. As the interview continues it becomes a game of cat and mouse with Zoe trying to get her story, and Asa teasing and taunting her, trying to lure the straight-laced reporter into her web and over to the dark side. The sexual tension is undeniable and Zoe quickly learns there's a fine line between reporting the story and becoming the story.

Reviews

Magazine reporter Jessica Drake gets the short straw at an assignment meeting, passed over for the Flint water crisis and the Porter Ranch gas leak and stuck with reporting about a porn star biography: Asa Akira's Insatiable—a job with which Drake's boyfriend Eric Masterson is keen to help. ("She's gotta be the biggest Asian porn star in history." "How do you know this?") Inside three minutes of screen time, she's read the book and is on a set with Akira, impassively watching the action in a two-couple scene as Akira sizes her up. ("I thought she could see right through me," Drake's character muses.)

When the scene wraps, Akira politely refuses Drake's handshake ("I'm all covered in cum and I'm gross right now, let me take a shower and then I'll meet you back out here") before they sit down for the interview. The interview touches on the book and Akira's career, and they continue over pizza at Akira's place, with Drake eventually succumbing to Akira's advances in a lengthy scene that takes Drake from reluctantly seduced to full participation, telling Akira in the afterglow girltalk, "My boyfriend is gonna be so jealous."

Masterson is, indeed, jealous—but he fucks Drake anyway, in the process waking what Drake calls in voiceover "my evil twin." When Akira calls to apologize for going too far, Drake reassures her and asks if she can tag along to Akira's STD test. When Akira finds out Drake has never had an STD test, she takes the upper hand, barking, "More paperwork! My friend needs to be tested!"

Freshly tested, Drake goes to set again and gets dragooned into being an extra on the set. "C'mon, it'll be fun!" Watching Akira's scene with Ryan Driller totally turns her on, leading her to rub one out while watching the scene and give Driller a blowjob as soon as they're alone on the set. The ice broken, Akira invites Drake to an orgy, and she and Masterson accept. When they enter, Akira welcomes them while bouncing on a dick, and the multi-partner orgy action fills the screen for a good 20 minutes. The vid ends with Drake at her computer, backlit, reflecting on the events of the last few days and how she had been a part of Akira's world ... and then starting to write the story.

Seven sex scenes and 164-minute run time give full value. Props to Alex Ladd, Barrett Blade and David Lord for the realistic, documentary-style cinematography.
