Watching India Summer do two scenes with Steven St. Croix in this polished, funny and sexy feature will leave female viewers quoting Estelle Reiner’s character in the coffee shop scene in When Harry Met Sally. Both of her scenes—a one-on-one anal with Steven St. Croix and a threesome with St. Croix and Lily LaBeau—will make women say, “I’ll have what she’s having.” A beautiful woman and a thorough professional, Summer makes sex on camera irresistibly appealing.
Directed by B. Skow and written by David Stanley—two components that make any adult project better—Proud Parents stars Summer and St. Croix as Marge and Stan, two adult stars whose daughter is looking to enter the biz. In the first scene they talk to a documentary filmmaker about their career, their relationship and their hopes for their daughter’s future—which do not include following in their footsteps. After that, the movie-within-a-movie director shoots the aforementioned anal scene. St. Croix takes charge of every inch of Summer’s body, eliciting squeals, moans, gasps and gapes—even a little squirt—as he fucks her pussy and ass, using a glass dildo for double penetration. It’s a great scene featuring two top perfomers who are able to make the sex simultaneously intimate yet dirty, and acrobatic yet tender, with erotic shots of the action captured from low angles.
In the second scene comes the first reveal of many: The documentary director is told by daughter Casey (Casey Calvert) and gal pals Zooey and Franny (a Salinger salute, we presume) that she’s going to shoot her first adult scene the next morning. She talks about why she hasn’t told her parents, and says her attitude about porn changed once she had sex. But she’s a little nervous about this big step. “It’s hard turning your dream into a reality,” she says. “Because there’s a chance it could become a nightmare.”
Zooey (Lily LaBeau) leaves the room and the unseen filmmaker proceeds to challenge Casey, suggesting she couldn’t possibly understand what having sex on camera is like. He challenges her to fuck Franny (Aiden Ashley) right then on camera. So she does.
Already up to this point Proud Parents has produced enough plot and dialog to power the average porno, but there’s much more to come. As Marge and Stan chitchat about the biz (“The titles these days—my god!”), Casey heads off with Franny. “Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do,” Marge says. “You’ve done everything,” Casey rejoins.
Soon she’s on set with director Jean Kreem (Scott Lyons), waiting for the male talent, Dynomite (Richie Calhoun). “I’ll be on set, getting my edge,” he says.
Turns out the edge is a bit dull, and Calhoun makes the most of this non-sex role . “Look at me real mean. Slap me,” he tells a dejected Casey.
“I hope you don’t think this is your fault,” Jean Kreem says. “This is just what happens when you hire a cokehead to do a man’s job.”
Thus begin a series of twists and turns in this sexy farce, with more characters played by Kurt Lockwood and Keisha Grey. We’ll leave the rest of the plot untold, but what does demand comment is the penultimate scene with Casey’s parents and her friend Zooey. As Stan and Zooey flirt in the kitchen, we’re not aware that the invisible director is on the scene; once the stroking and sucking starts, it’s clear he’s there to capture it all on video. “So wrong,” Zooey says with a look of delight. And it gets even wronger once Summer comes in wearing a strap-on, adding to the possibilities. There are so many great camera angles and editing touches—for example, in one close-up of a hand on a pussy, it’s not even certain who’s touching what. Turns out it’s Marge diddling her daughter’s friend, just one of the titillations in this transgressive scene—and one of the reasons Proud Parents won’t be forgotten when the time comes for AVN Award nominations.
