Public Comments to the DOJ

I received a call from Matt Forman, Executive Director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force (NGLTF). They are joining us in our push for public comments to the DOJ about the proposed 2257’s regulations. Their fact sheet begins with:

“The federal government is proposing regulations that would effectively kill adult social-networking sites. This is being done under the guise of fighting child pornography. You have until September 10 to object to the regulations. It’s easy to do and essential. A sample email comment is at the bottom of this page. Please forward this information to your friends!”

They have drafted a sample letter to send to the DOJ from consumers voicing concern over this oppressive legislation. I spent some time on the phone with Adam, from Manhunt, as well, and they plan to put NGLTF’s link and banner on their site, motivating concerned consumers to take action. Thank you to NGLTF and Manhunt. This kind of coalition building is essential as we work to secure the future of our industry.

Information about the campaign will be posted on NGLTF’s website (http://www.thetaskforce.org) and their banner and link on Manhunt (http://www.manhunt.net) next week.
