John Rutherford is the President and Creative Director of COLT Studio Group, executive producer and director for several gay adult films under various production companies.

In 2001, John Rutherford tied with Chi Chi LaRue for Best Director at the GayVN Awards for the pornographic movie, Out Of Athens.

In 2002, John Rutherford was honored as an inductee into the GayVN Awards Hall of Fame.

As the former President and ex-Head of Production of Falcon Studios, John Rutherford acquired the rights to Colt Studio Group estate and its subsidiaries in 2003 with plans to reestablish the “Colt” masculine image created by founder Jim French.

In 2004, John Rutherford directed the 11 GayVN Awards winner, BuckleRoos 1-2, from which he received Best Director.
