Biography

Avn Award Winner

With his genre-crossing erotic action epic "Manhunters," actor/director/writer Brad Armstrong took his career to the next level of commercial and artistic excellence. On January 13th, 2007, the director's explosive look at sexy bounty hunters and the dangerous world they inhabit led the way at the AVN Awards as the evening's winner for Best Film. The movie's other major awards included Best Actress - Film (jessica drake), Best Director - Film, Best Screenplay - Film, Best Actor - Film (Randy Spears), Best Supporting Actress - Film (Kirsten Price), and Best Anal Sex Scene - Film. Armstrong's stylish erotic vignette film "FUCK" also received five major awards, including Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction - Film, Best All-Girl Sex Scene - Film, Best Oral Sex Scene-Film, and Best Group Sex Scene - Film.

2007 also saw Armstrong earning many nominations in AVN's video categories - his supernatural thriller "Curse Eternal" scored 15 significant noms, including Best Director & Best Video Feature. Throw in a nod for "Between The Sheets" as Best All-Sex Release, and a Best Actor - Video nomination to Brad for his excellent performance in Michael Raven's "Women On Top," and the director's tally accounts for 57 of the 102 AVN nominations received as a whole by Wicked Pictures for the year.

Interestingly, this diverse and successful career trajectory was initially determined while Armstrong was still in college, where he majored in art and advertising. Soon after, he began working in production while simultaneously establishing himself as one of adult's most in-demand performers. After self-financing his first film effort, he met Wicked Pictures President and Owner Steve Orenstein at the East Coast Video Show. Impressed with the new filmmaker's talent and vision, Orenstein signed the director to an exclusive contract in 1996. Since then, Armstrong has created many of Wicked's best and biggest features.

In his first years with the company, Armstrong made it apparent that he was a filmmaker to watch, as titles like "Conquest," "Flashpoint," "Hell On Heels," and "Exile" received both high acclaim and numerous nominations. His 2000 classic "Dream Quest" became the first adult title in history to see a simultaneous release in both VHS and DVD formats. An even bigger success, "Euphoria," ruled both the 2002 AVN Awards and Adam Film World Awards, winning Best Feature, Best Director, and Best Actress from both voting bodies. It also won Video of the Year at the XRCO Awards, making it the first production in history to win Best Video from all three groups. The following year saw Armstrong’s "Falling from Grace" receiving ten AVN noms, including Best Feature – Film and Best Actress – Film (Sydnee Steele), as well as winning two: Best Actor – Film (Armstrong), and Best Screenplay – Film (Armstrong, Daniel Metcalf, and Jonathan Morgan). Armstrong’s Devinn Lane vehicle "Sex On Film" also received noms for Best Sex Comedy and Best Solo Sex Scene.

The next year's AVN Awards saw Armstrong’s film "The Collector" winning both Best Art Direction and Best Screenplay, while his AVN Editor's Choice "Fluff & Fold" snared a Best Actress trophy for its luminous star, jessica drake. The acclaimed director has continued to produce successful shot-on-film features like "Sold" (the sequel to "The Collector"),  and "Eternity," a visually elegant period piece that snared a Best Actor AVN award for Randy Spears. Today, Armstrong continues to raise the bar in the video genre with projects like his ambitious war epic "Coming Home" while also putting his expressionistic cinematic gifts to brilliant use in dazzling shot-on-film projects like "The Craving."

A unique visual stylist with a complete mastery of his storytelling skills, Brad Armstrong's talent never fails to earn him both critical accolades and commercial success.
