What a kick in the funnybone of history. While the cover may suggest an attempt to create some kind of classical-era epic gay porn, the movie is both full of lushly appointed eye-candy and delicately campy. It's not that history is butchered here, or that both Marc Anthony and Caesar are gay, or that mummies sprout woodies, or that massages routinely evolve into butt-fuck fests-it's that everybody in the classical world appears to be a top except for Marc Anthony and Caesar! This is great good fun (Pre-Nom Best Sex Comedy) with a gorgeous lead. Perez (who actually is versatile) has a superb body and hefty cock and, unlike the familiar Hungarians in the cast, isn't afraid to rim. (Superhung Lucas Foz isn't either.) Some of the sex is quite good-especially the Perez/Foz opening duo and the final threeway with Perez, Janos Volt, and Luis Casas. While it's unlikely that this is indeed the most expensive gay video ever made (it really was made in tandem with Private's splashy straight video Cleopatra), or that it was shot on location in Egypt as the advertising trumpets, the costumes and sets are admirable and help make this a very enjoyable movie. Those who own the DVD have a choice of listening to the dialogue in five languages or reading it in another three. Unfortunately, the disc is disappointing in the extras department. There are some brief, hyper-chatty production notes, but not even a Still Gallery.
