Sin in the City Announces New Advocacy Track for 2020

LAS VEGAS—The annual lifestyle event Sin in the City, next taking place Jan. 31-Feb. 2, 2020, has issued a statement about its plans to add an educational track to its schedule.

According to the organizers, Sin in the City has "promoted a core value of free sexual expression. At a time when many kink and leather conferences were (and continue) trending towards the removal of sex from their spaces, SITC encouraged—demanded, even—sexual indulgence. Additionally, since the start, Sin has been a champion of the spread of historical leather values: political activism, honor, education, respect, integrity; in a frame designed to bring together ALL of the diversity represented in the leather community in an inclusive space."

The statement continues, “We recognize that sex is by nature political, that our politics protect our ability to actualize free sexual expression. We recognize that matters of our sexual health exist central in this intersection. With this in mind, Sin in the City is excited to create a more explicit bridge; an avenue in which our attendees can engage at the intersection of free sexual expression, politics, and other areas of advocacy and activism.”

The educational programming for the 2020 Sin in the City will be called the Advocacy Track, which organizers describe as an environment intended to empower attendees with sexual health knowledge and education free of judgement and stigma. Areas of interest attendees will find and goals of the track within this educational realm will include the following:

  1. Politics and Policy Updates
  2. Tools for Activating Community, including self-advocacy
  3. Sexual Health Education; because free sexual expression begins with sexual health

A spokesperson said, “We are INCREDIBLY excited to be bringing this new level of conscious engagement to Sin in the City for INFINITE SIN in 2020. As a family of sexual outlaws and deviants, we see a need to protect our sexual freedom in order to see our community endure and thrive…INFINITELY. Sin in the City looks forward to the greater levels of diversity and support this effort can provide our community. Keep an eye out for our Advocacy Track in 2020!”
