Horat Nominations Withdrawn On Technicality

CHATSWORTH, Calif. - AVN has withdrawn the 2008 award nominations for the comedy Horat from startup company Pink Lotus Entertainment due to a technicality. Because the movie was not in the inventory of 10 wholesale distributors or 100 retail outlets before the cutoff date of Sept. 28, 2007, Horat is ineligible for awards consideration.

AVN announced Monday that Horat had been nominated in the categories of Best Actor – Video (recognizing reigning Best Male Newcomer Tommy Pistol), Best Director – Video (Vincenzo Piano) and Best Sex Comedy.

After careful consideration of the matter, it was decided that Horat would be withdrawn from these categories, and replaced with the following new nominees:

Best Actor – Video: Justin Slayer, Merc (Justin Slayer/Evil Angel)

Best Director – Video: Jim Powers, Black Snake Boned (Powersville/JM Productions)

Best Sex Comedy: Stood Up (Vivid Entertainment Group)

AVN Editor-in-Chief Dan Miller said, "We have to protect the integrity of the Awards and adhere to the guidelines that we set out. Any time we make a mistake, we always try to correct it. We really liked the movie here and it’s a brand new production company. We didn't realize they were only doing website and cable and satellite distribution so far. Once it has full retail distribution, it will be considered for the 2009 Awards."

AVN regrets this error and extends congratulations to the nominees above.
