Will Ryder Shoots for '60s Hedonism With 'Manson Family XXX'

LOS ANGELES—AVN Award-winning director Will Ryder has begun production on what he calls "an unusual, frenzied and provocative ... 1960s era thriller" portraying the libertine existence of murderous cult the Manson Family.

The project, titled Manson Family XXX, is being produced by Will Ryder Productions, and Ryder reports that it has been in development for over a year.

"Back in 1967 Charles Manson was a songwriter, a criminal and Svengali who attracted a lot of young girls for his sexual pleasure," Ryder said. "They thought of themselves as a real family and shared their personal belongings including money, love and sexual favors in a commune lifestyle."

Charles Manson has remained in prison since 1971, when he was convicted of conspiracy with his followers to the murders of seven Los Angeles area people, including actress Sharon Tate.

"Manson is essentially a 1960s hippie love story that went tragically wrong," Ryder suggested. "That is all I will say at this moment."

No release date has yet been announced for Manson Family XXX. Will Ryder won the 2014 AVN Award for Best Director - Parody for Not the Wizard of Oz XXX from X-Play/Pulse, and his Grease XXX: A Parody from Adam & Pictures was awarded Best Parody - Comedy.
