Urban X Awards Reveals 2010 Winners

LOS ANGELES—The Urban X Awards announced the winners of its 2010 awards to a packed house at the 740 Club downtown last night. The third annual awards presentation honored the best ethnic performers, products and companies as voted on by fans.

Co-hosted by adult stars Misty Stone and Dana DeArmond (who provided plenty of comic relief), the awards show was disjointed and disorganized at times—certainly no fault of its hosts—but that didn’t seem to matter as the few hundred attendees clearly enjoyed the festivities.

The three-level 740 Club, formerly the historic Globe Theater, an old beaux-arts movie palace built in 1913, was rocking from the beginning of the show with a performance from the rap group Daydreams followed by a jerkin’ dance crew.

Olivia O’Lovely presented the first awards of the evening for male performers inducted to the Urban X Hall of Fame: Michael Stefano, Guy DaSilva, Ron Hightower, and Alexander DeVoe, who said, when accepting the award, “Thanks to those who came before me and made this possible.”

Mr. Marcus presented Hall of Fame Awards to female inductees Jada Fire, Diana DeVoe, Nina Hartley, Mercedes Ashley and Olivia O’Lovely. “This is for all the curvy girls out there. If you got a fat ass and some meat on your bones, make some noise!” O’Lovely told the crowd.

While some performers didn’t know they were even nominated, and the presenters weren’t quite sure what award they were presenting, it matched the freewheeling, fun-loving vibe of the evening—even if the disorganization was disconcerting to those audience members that were trying to follow along.

Spotted mixing and mingling at the show were Kristina Rose, Sophie Dee, Angela Aspen, Bella Moretti, Tee Reel, Jeff Mullen, Scott David, Sara Jay, Olivia O’Lovely, Farrah Fox, Pinky, Lexington Steele, Mr. Marcus, Hillary Hooterz, Richard Mann, Flash Brown, Sinnamon Love, Candice Nicole, Rico Strong, Emy Reyes, Priya Rai, Nyomi Banxx, Prince Yahshua, Dani Summers, Nat Turnher, Alexander DeVoe, Kapri Styles, Chad Diamond, Mia Isabella and many others.

A moment of silence was observed at the beginning of the night to honor Phashon, a director of ethnic movies who passed away earlier this year.
