I was lucky enough to have advice and common sense to know what I should and should not do getting into the industry. Not everyone is so lucky, so here I am giving my two cents on what I feel is important to know. Perhaps I can help shine some light for new people that are afraid to ask questions.
Ok now let's move on to the Do's of being a successful Hussy in the industry.
1) The first and most important Do is making sure this is truly a job for you. I waited a year and a half after my first scene to make sure this was truly a right job for me. I think a lot of people — girls especially — are so mesmerized by all the money and superficial shit that they forget about how truly life changing a job like this can be. You have to be right within yourself to be able to do this without regret. You have to make sure you're emotionally and mentally strong enough to do this. There is nothing more devastating to me then hearing about girls that cry after all of their scenes. If you have been abused and feel this is all you're worth then don't do it.
You also have to be prepared to deal with the friends and family that may not approve of what you do. Many girls and guys I've talked to have been disowned by family because of their choices. It's important to do a little soul searching beforehand to make sure this is not going to hurt you more then it will benefit you. This job is not for everyone so just be sure you are stable enough to do it in a healthy way that won't effect you negatively for the rest of your life.
2) Take care of yourself. By that, I mean your body. Once you start doing porn not only are you responsible for your own health but also the health of everyone you work with. It's important to be constantly aware of what's going on with your body. Make sure to be safe in your personal life because your choices will directly effect other people. If you think something is wrong then call off work. No one will be mad at you for being safe.
Make sure to check everyone's test before you work with them. There is nothing worse then going to do a scene and realizing your partner has strange sores or a green discharge. Believe it or not, this has happened to me. If you do end up testing positive for something, be courteous and do what I've done, call everyone you've worked with since your last test and give them a heads up. This is a lot better then letting the people you have infected go on working infecting other people with out knowing. It's inevitable that at least once in your porn career you will get at least Gonorrhea or Chlamydia.
3) Pace yourself. Remember that it's all how you market yourself and if you plan on staying around for a while then take your time. Don't start off doing gangbangs just for more work. The longer you wait, the more you will make when you do decide to do it. I would suggest holding out on anything other then the basic b/g or g/g as long as you can. I think the average wait should be at least a year. Once the basic works starts to dry up a bit and your feeling like you are ready for the next step then decide what it's going to be and sell to the highest bidder.
If you love anal and gangbangs but don't want to wait, then fine. Just keep in mind that it's all a hustle and if you want to look at it from a business standpoint, then I would pace yourself and be stingy with what you do.
Also, try not to work everyday if you don't have to. It's easy to want to do two scenes a day for weeks straight, but the fact of the matter is that it's not healthy. Women especially, have to deal with a lot of health issues when working everyday and douching before all scenes. I, as well as so many others, have constant battles with yeast infections and Vaginosis due to douching too much. You have such a delicate balance of bacteria in your vagina that needs to be steady to keep it happy and healthy. Once you douche, you wash away that balance and that's when yeast and vaginosis come into play.
I have found that eating a lot of yogurt helps and when I do douche I add in an acidophilus pill for good measure. For me, working a few days a week is reasonable and there are plenty of other things one can do to make money in the mean time. Some suggestions are websites, dancing, signings, lemonade stand, or kidney trade. Just don't over work yourself and keep in mind that if the bank is broke, then so are you.
4) Be responsible with your money. It can be quite exciting to come home with big checks and feel a sense of financial freedom. Just as easy as it comes it can go. I will admit that I am an impulse shopper and have a tendency to be careless with my spending. I have managed over time to gain some sort of control and be a little more rational when it comes to my urges. Instead of buying something because I want it, I ask myself if I need it. If it's not an essential item then I won't buy it. Always be aware that this money won't last forever.
Have a plan for yourself and always think ahead. Maybe look into going to school, if you haven't already, or maybe look into opening your own business. Explore your options and use the money you make to grow and expand your possibilities. When your career is over, "things" won't keep food in your belly and a roof over your head. If you are not sure what to do with your extra money, maybe consider sitting down with one of those friendly bank fuckers to see what your options are. They will be more then happy to give you the great advice you need.
5) Always talk to your partner. It makes a huge difference when you at least say "hi" to one another. I have had scenes where a partner won't even do that before a scene. I can be a little on the shy side at times but can also pick up on shitty vibes when I feel them.
If you don't like working with someone then you don't have to. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I would rather have a few amazing scenes then a few good ones and a whole lot of shitty ones. Ask what your partner likes and doesn't like. The more you talk the more comfortable you'll be. I find that some of my best scene's are with people I've worked with before and have talked to.
It becomes a breeze when your not getting anything unexpected; like a back hand in the middle of your scene…yes, that has happened to me too. The unnamed slugger felt really bad because they didn't realize I wasn't into that sort of thing. Mind you, this is the first month I had been doing scenes. How was I supposed to know some people really do like getting a left hook while fucking? I learned the hard way that you have to be very, very specific as to what you don't want to happen in your scene.
So there is my advice on things to know when getting into porn. I hope I was at least a little bit of a help to some people. All in all, the industry is great, and most people are decent. You just need to be a good judge of character and be smart about your choices. Remember that you have choices and the power to be whatever you want.
