Texas Considers Extra Strip Club Fee

State lawmakers have proposed a bill that would add five dollars to cover charges for Texas strip clubs, in part, in order to raise funds to fight the sexual assault problem in state.

According to a report by WOAI San Antonio, a House Committee has recently passed the bill, allotting "some of the money" to go to sexual assault programs throughout the state.

"This is a really great way to not tax people, because we're already over-burdened with taxes and fees," Lynn Blanco of the San Antonio Rape Crisis Center told WOAI.

According to lawmaker estimations, the tax is expected to generate about $18 million every two years for sexual assault programs. Extra money, according to the report, would go to the state's general fund. The bill now goes to the full house for a vote.
