Terminal Press to Launch 'Deep Throat' Comic at San Diego Comic-Con

SAN DIEGO - Arrow Productions and Terminal Press have re-envisioned the 1972 adult film classic Deep Throat as a sci-fi spy thriller in a new comic book debuting at next week's San Diego Comic-Con.

Terminal Press licensed Deep Throat and other vintage porn titles from Arrow to create a line of comic books. Launched in January at the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo with a "Debbie Does Dallas" book, the publisher's HARD/CORE imprint also includes modern takes on "Johnny Wadd," "The Devil in Miss Jones" and "The Candy Stripers."

The limited-edition "Deep Throat" comic takes adult film heroine Linda Lovelace into not only a new medium, but a new genre. Linda is still the infamous bombshell cursed with having her clitoris where her tonsils should be - but that's the least of her problems.

It turns out that President Richard "Tricky Dick" Nixon has gotten wind of Linda's unique physique, and he's sent out his own less-than-human government enforcer to track her down for a little extracurricular activity in the Oval Office. But Linda's about to find out she has some tricks of her own up her sleeve...as well as a few other places.

Arrow's marketing director Robert Interlandi conceived the premise for the "Throat" comic.

"I gave Terminal Press my idea of turning 'Deep Throat' into a spy thriller with super sexual soldiers and they ran with it," said Interlandi. "The idea is kinda like James Bond is Linda Lovelace but Linda has super powers and she wants to take down Nixon instead of the Russians. This comic book should open up the 'Deep Throat' franchise more than any other licensed product."

"Deep Throat" is written by Keith McCleary (Killing Tree Quarterly) with art by Alex Riegel, colors and letters by Narek Gevorgian and separations by Joe Frazzetta.

Comic-Con 2008 runs July 24-27 at the San Diego Convention Center. Terminal Press will exhibit "Deep Throat" and its other HARD/CORE comic titles at booth 1221.
