Swedish Film Institute Backs Porn Project

STOCKHOLM - The Swedish Film Institute is backing Dirty Diaries, a compilation of short porn videos shot by women on mobile phones.

According to Variety, the film institute is providing $59,300 of the project's $76,200 budget. Producers Mia Engberg and Goran Olsson plan to have the movie ready for release next spring.

Engberg is a feminist documentary filmmaker whose past works include Bitch & Butch, Manhood and Selma & Sofie, "the first Swedish erotic film made by women."

"For me it's an examination of erotic film from a totally different perspective; a feminist perspective," said Anne-Marie Söhrman Ferm, an adviser with the Swedish Film Institute. "I think it's a very exciting project with clearly artistic ambitions."

Variety reports that "all the shorts will be shot by women, who will be given free rein to do what they want, just as long as they follow the rules, which include not harming participants, who must be 18 or older."

Sounds like a shoo-in for next year's Feminist Porn Awards.
