Sex Educators to Launch Spray-on Condom

Sex educators in Germany are planning to launch a spray-on condom.

Jan Vinzenz Krause, from Germany’s Institute of Condom Consultancy which offers advice on the use of condoms, said the proposed spray-on condom would help people enjoy sex more while having safe sex, Reuters reported today.

Krause said the spray can allows the user to insert his penis in the can which then coats it with latex rubber with the push of a button. It would be ready for use within five seconds of spraying, he added, noting that it would be a more effective contraceptive than a regular condom because it would fit better.

The new high-tech condom likely would not be available until 2008, but once it hits stores it will come in different colors, strengths and sizes.

The can would cost about 20 euros or $26 while the latex cartridges for the spray can would run about 10 euros, Krause added.

Krause said he was inspired by the use of spray-on plasters used by doctors.
