Rob Black Forms Syndicate With Fulfillment by Pure Play

CHATSWORTH, Calif.—The founder of Extreme Associates and director of such recent acclaimed hits as Taxi Driver: A XXX Parody and Training Day: A Pleasure Dynasty Parody has broken ground on a new empire dubbed the Sinister X Syndicate, for which he's inked a unique "fulfillment" deal with Pure Play Media.

Rob Black's new Syndicate (whose home base can be found at RobBlackProductions.com) will encompass four main imprints: Sinister Comixxx, devoted to comic book parodies; Fairy Tale Films XXX, for classic love stories; The Laugh Fucktery, for comedies (to be overseen Black's wife, Lizzy Borden); and General Stone Films, for serious dramas. All four will be sold in-house, but replicated and shipped by Pure Play in what Black touts as a first-time-ever arrangement.

"It's the first fulfillment type of agreement in the business," Black told AVN. "Pure Play Media will be doing all the shipping, collecting, accounting, all that aspect of it, but it's just a fulfillment house because we do all the sales."

Specifically, longtime sales vet David Peskin will oversee domestic DVD and VOD sales, while fellow industry stalwart Todd Blatt (through his Antigua Pictures) will handle foreign and broadcast licensing.

In addition, Black said his company plans in two-and-a-half weeks to launch its own Roku channel, the Extreme Entertainment Network, offering the entire library of everything produced by himself or any of his associates under his various banners past and present.

"It's basically going to be a Netflix of our library," Black explained. "Anything [from] Rob Black and Tom Byron and just everybody that's ever been with us. And it's on Roku, but it's also a web portal, so even if you don't have Roku, you can still get the material. And it will only be available there; you're not going to be able to get it on any of the other platforms."

The first title from Sinister Comixxx, Black's long-delayed Birds of Prey XXX, is slated to release in July, with the first Fairy Tale Films XXX production, Snow White XXX, following in August. Then in September, Black plans to release an interactive parody of wildly popular zombie franchise The Walking Dead, also under the Sinister Comixxx label.

Moreover, the planned release strategy for the Sinister X Syndicate is to issue two titles per month under differing pairs of its genre-specific imprints. Black noted that while the company wants to be careful not to flood the market, he feels its product "is strong enough that it can sustain two high-end movies" each month. He also hinted, "We will have all-new packaging for all of our movies that is never before seen."

Each Syndicate title, he said, will be released in a three-disc set, with bonus features including a digital copy, hours of extra footage, and in an innovative twist, a scene from an upcoming release.
