Private Penetrates U.S. VoD Market

BARCELONA - European adult powerhouse Private Media Group has partnered with an as-yet-undisclosed American video-on-demand provider to offer its content in an array of languages to U.S. consumers via the VoD platform.

"This foreign language package is a unique way to differentiate us from the other adult VoD offerings currently in place," said Private COO Peter Cohen. "Private movies are currently available in eight languages: English, French, Dutch, German, Portuguese, Italian, Greek and Spanish. With over 20 percent of the U.S. population speaking Spanish, this is a significant, unique selling point for this VoD offering, and gives us a leading edge for gaining huge exposure in the highly competitive U.S. market."

With the partnership, Private content will be made available in each of the various languages it's produced to more than 5 million American VoD subscribers.

"This is a perfect fit for our high quality movie content," Cohen said. This development follows an announcement by the company last month that it had partnered with nine additional IPTV providers in Europe, bringing its total network of IPTV platforms there to 23, and significantly advancing its long-term strategy to become a worldwide leader in digital delivery.
