BANGKOK - Retired porn actor Sasha Gabor died June 27 of heart failure while on vacation in Thailand. He was 63.
"A doctor came to the hotel and declared him dead," close friend Robert Kristensen told the Norwegian newspaper VG. "In recent years, he has struggled with the heart."
Known for his resemblance to actor Burt Reynolds, Gabor appeared in more than 200 adult videos between 1983 and 2001. His credits spanned the video era, from Vivid's original Ginger to JM Productions' American Bukakke.
Born Gabor Sarkøzy on June 6, 1945, Gabor came to Norway as a refugee from Hungary in 1957. Some sources list his birth name as Samuel Guttman. He grew up in Lillesstrøm before moving to the United States in the '80s. He lived in Los Angeles for many years before moving back to Norway in 2001.
In later years, Gabor was hailed as a tabloid celebrity in Norway. He embraced his fame and made headlines for pulling off a parachute jump at age 59; in porn, his stunts ranged from having sex with four 160-pound women at the same time (Heatwave's All-American Pig Out) and performing with a 90-year-old deaf woman (Filmco's Ninety and Naughty.)
Outside of porn, Gabor also worked as a circus performer, soldier, pilot, writer and a professional Burt Reynolds and Sean Connery lookalike. He was married three times and fathered six children.
